The trip from Kuching to SMK Matu, Mukah, Sarawak took about 9 hours by car. A group of teachers departed on Sunday, December 21, 2010, and returned the next day. The group consists of five teachers, Mr. Mansor Zainal, Mr. Chua Beng Keat, Mr. Bong Siew Phew, Mr. Alexander, and Mr. Abdul Hamid who is the prospective principal of SMK Matu. The aim was to report for duty while observing the school’s environment. We departed at 4.00 am and reached Mukah at about 11.30 am. We decided to spent the night there before proceeding to SMK Matu the next day. The journey from Kuching to Selangau was not challenging because the road was in good shape. However, the challenges begin when we travelled from Selangau to Mukah as the road was uneven and there were holes everywhere. Luckily, the journey took about one hour and a half as only a tiny portion of road’s surface was damaged. Travelling from Mukah to SMK Matu was also easy and it also took about an hour and a half because they had to board a ferry at Batang Igan. After arriving at SMK Matu, We took approximately 3 hours to observe the surroundings of the school with the school principal. At 11.35 am, they travelled back to Kuching while stopping at several places to relax and we arrived at 12.30 pm. Here are some photos to share.
